Programme Support Officers

South Bank Innovation (SBI) is responsible for delivering research and enterprise across the London South Bank University Group. South Bank Innovation's Inclusive Growth programmes support local businesses and communities to collaborate, innovate, grow, and reinforce the role of the LSBU Group as an anchor institution. Programmes currently focus on two principal areas: business growth and individual growth. Our Inclusive Growth projects are managed by a growing team of experienced project and programme management practitioners. The team are seeking to appoint two (2) new Programme Support Officers to work across this exciting portfolio and support local growth and regeneration in London.

Since 2017 the team have successfully applied for and delivered over £15m of programmes. Activity includes projects to support business growth and skills development in London's digital, tech, health, food, and sustainability sectors, plus support initiatives working in partnership with Lewisham Council, South London Partnership and Croydon Council.

Between August 2017 and March 2022 over 1000 businesses received at least 12 hours of support to facilitate their growth. By August 2023, Inclusive Growth's Skills and Employment projects will recruit at least 3078 Londoners onto the projects. Of those, at least 1288 will gain basic and L1-3 skills, and 90 will gain work experience through placements. 1040 Londoners of those starting on our projects will progress onto HE/FE course, apprenticeship, or work.

About you

The Strategic team is looking to recruit three graduate or postgraduate students with interest in strengthening their project management skills.

During your three-month post, you will have an opportunity to work with our project practitioners and acquire practical skills across all project components, from budget/resourcing and submitting claims to working on project events and promotion.

This fast-paced role requires the ability to work with a vast range of stakeholders. Relationship building will be critical to ensure successful delivery and effective time management.

The skills and experience you will need to be successful

We expect candidates to have some experience in at least two areas outlined below:

  • coordinating and delivering events or workshops,
  • collecting and managing project documentation
  • using excel for both financial and non-financial data
  • understanding or experience of using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (ideally HubSpot or Salesforce) and their role in project management
  • providing administrative support to a high standard in a busy environment

Details about the role

This is a Fixed Term 12 months contract. The core hours for this post are 35 per week, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day.

Please note that the University is operating a hybrid working model which means a mix of working on site and from home, confirmation of days worked on campus are arranged with the line manager.
