Retrofit Revolution is a short course designed to give you knowledge of the current and future role of retrofitting in the construction industry.

Retrofittting is there to make current buildings more sustainable and keep energy prices lower for whole communities.

You'll explore future career paths within the industry, pick up invaluable employability skills, and open up new avenues for yourself.

The main course will last three days:

Monday - Explore the groundwork site and John Ruskin College and their Construction Hub. You'll also engage in some Health and Safety practicals.

Tuesday - You'll build your practical industry knowledge and contacts as you attend an offsite visit to either an external company or John Ruskin's other campus.

Wednesday - Discover how the technology is changing as you visit a heat pump company that will provide a tour and presentation on their work.

Afterwards ...

Once these are completed you'll also be able to access an optional full-day top-up session in which you can gain a Level 2 City and Guilds Qualification in Retrofit Awareness.

All sessions will have scheduled breaks and full-day sessions will have scheduled lunches.

What will I learn?

You will come away with real-world knowledge of the:

• Relationship between climate change and the built environment
• Importance of retrofit, construction approaches and materials
• Use of solar, wind and heat pumps
• Relevance of air tightness in buildings
• Necessary requirements to make buildings more efficient
• Soft skills such as confidence, teamwork, timekeeping and leadership, that are required to progress into jobs or further training

To access this free set of workshops you must:

- Live in south London

- Be aged 16 or over

- Not be in regular employment or self-employed
